The Heart Rate Red Zone is defined as a heart rate above the Zone 5 threshold. This is customisable but is set as 85% of Max Heart Rate by default. Absolute & Relative Metrics are available for Red Zone Metrics.
Time In Red Zone
The total time spent in the Heart Rate Red Zone from the selected drill or session.
% Time In Red Zone
The percentage time that the player has spent in the Heart Rate Red Zone from the selected drill or session.
Example
An activity graph from a 10 minute conditioning block of training is shown below:
Within the 10-minute drill that is displayed, 4 running efforts of approx 300 metres each take place. The player is in the Heart Rate Red Zone for a total of 3 minutes 56 seconds (3.94 decimal minutes), displayed in the "Time In Red Zone (Relative)" metric. This is 39.34% of the total time of the drill, displayed as "% Time in Red Zone (Relative)".
The Heart Rate Zones on the activity trace can be displayed with colour coding by selecting the "Show HR Zones" button above the activity graph. The Heart Rate activity graph will then be colour coded with the following:
HR Zone 1 = Blue
HR Zone 2 = Light Blue
HR Zone 3 = Green
HR Zone 4 = Yellow
HR Zone 5 = Orange
HR Zone 6 = Red
A breakdown of each individual run is also available following cutting drills for each section.
The heart rate metric information can then be viewed for each run with context being shown for each effort, as demonstrated below:
The trend of the total time taken to complete each run shows an increase as the runs progress, with an initial increase in % Time in Red Zone from Run 1 to Run 2, with an decrease in % Time in Red Zone thereafter. This can partly be attributed to the player running at a slower average speed to complete the total running effort, resulting in a generally lower heart rate.
The highest % Time Spent in Red Zone correlates with the run effort that was completed in the fastest time, and therefore the fastest average speed.
