High Speed Running
Distance travelled when the device records speed greater than zone 5 threshold (default of 5.5m/s).
Raw speed data is used so no dwell time is applied.
*Note that there are absolute & relative variations available for users.
Speed Zones can be denoted on the activity graph by selecting the "Show Speed Zones" icon above the graph. This will colour code the speed zones with the following criteria:
- Zone 1 & 2: Green
- Zone 3 & 4: Orange
- Zone 5 & 6: Red
Distance in Zone 5 & 6 is used for High Speed Running metric calculation, as is shown in the below metric table from the Individual Dashboard on STATSports' Sonra software.
The drills selected below are from blocks of 10m, 20m, 30m & 40m acceleration & sprint efforts from a speed focused session. Distance in Zone 5 & 6 summed equates to the High Speed Running value.
High Speed Running distance & Distance in Zone metrics are rounded to the nearest decimal point. Decimal Distance can be implemented by practitioners if they wish, allowing them to view distance outputs on a more granular level. This is done using the Custom Metric Calculator, as shown below:
By adding the "Distance Zone 6" metric to the calculation and selecting the unit as "Other", the metrics can they be displayed in dashboards and CSV exports to 2 decimal points (below):
